410 degrees is the temperature at which gluten free cookies are baked. 410 Degrees is also the name of a new company. 410 Degrees will also give you the ultimate cookie experience when you place a cookie order. You can create your own individual gluten free cookies. (Gluten Free cookies can be customized to your wildest ideas). These very nice young owners, Adam Koven and Derek Jaeger are extremely passionate about food and absolutely addicted to cookies. They are out to please their customers and to change the image of GF cookies. My favorite cookies were Rosemary and Red Velvet. Come taste these new 410 Degrees cookies. Look at their web site, 410degrees.com.
Deb Wheaton will give a cooking demo showing us how to deep fry with Gluten Free batter, called Choice Batter. With this new fantastic product you can fry onion rings, chicken nuggets, vegetables, shrimp, fish or fruit for dessert. Come sample it all.
Have you heard of JoSef Gluten Free Products? They have 3 flavors of O’s, 2 flavors of Animal Cookies and 3 flavors of cookie squares. They are already carried by Whole Foods. Come sample these cookies. Look at their web site josefsglutenfree.com.
Please remember to bring a GF dish to share after the meeting for lunch. Please bring 25 copies of the recipe or the package you made your dish from. This way everyone can see if the dish contains ingredients they could be allergic to and you are also sharing your recipe with other celiacs.
Remember our wonderful gluten Free Raffle. We can not say raffle “basket” any longer. All the items would never fit into a basket. If you have anything you would like to donate to our raffle basket, please do so. There is already bread mixes, cookies and crackers. We sell raffle tickets for: 1 for $1 or 10 for $5. All raffle players receive prizes.
Meeting dates to put on your calendar: April 17th, May 15th, June 19th, July 17th. Our meetings are always on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Saturday, May 15th will be The Celiac Disease Foundations Annual Meeting in downtown LA. Invitations will be coming out soon. There will be over 55 vendors and the speakers this year are again outstanding. From an educational stand point, no one should miss this day. Be sure to put this day on your calendar.
