July Support Group Meeting
Date- Saturday, July 17, 2010
Time- 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Place- Pasadena Presbyterian Church, room 203
585 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena 91101
From 210 freeway, off at Lake Street, south to Colorado Blvd. Turn right on Colorado Blvd. 4 blocks to Madison. Turn right on Madison. The parking lot directly behind the church charges $2 or $3. For free parking continue on Madison, cross Union and the church parking lot is on the left. Walk back thru the church buildings, to the front of the church. We are upstairs in room 203. There is an elevator.
This meeting will be filled with introducing you to new Gluten Free food manufacturers and their products and introducing you to Gluten Free food that is already in our favorite markets. Bring all your questions because all questions will be answered.
1. I am sure everyone has seen Nana’s cookies from Nana’s Cookie Company. They are delicious and moist cookies. Go to nanascookiecompany.com for discount coupons, promotions and a newsletter.
2. Fran Powell lives in Sierra Madre and is a distributor for a new substitute sugar called “Just like Sugar”. This is made from Chicory Root, Vitamin C, Calcium and flavoring from Orange peel. To bake with it, you use it cup for cup. There is no after taste and tasting is believing. Check them out at justlikesugar.com.
3. We have discovered some cereals that comes from Italy. It is imported by Riega Foods, LLC. There is Corn, Multi grain, Chocolate Stars and a wonderful Coffee flaked cereal, that is coated with Italian coffee. This is great in the mornings. What is surprising about this cereal is it always stays crisp, It never gets soggy.
4. We will be tasting gluten Free Cheese Cakes. These are small individual cheese cakes or they can be shared by 2 to 4 people. These cheese cakes are very easy to pull out of your freezer for a quick dessert or to share with family or dinner guests. There will be different cheese cakes to taste.
5. Kettle Cuisine will be sending their fabulous frozen soups for all of us to taste. They are carried by a few stores in our area. Kettle Cuisine also make soup that has wheat flour. So always be sure that you purchase only Gluten Free. Check them out at kettle cuisine.com.
Please remember to bring a GF dish to share after the meeting for lunch. Please bring 25 copies of the recipe or the package you made your dish from. This way everyone can see if the dish contains ingredients they could be allergic to and you are also sharing your recipe with other celiacs.
Remember our wonderful gluten Free Raffle. We can not say raffle “basket” any longer. All the items would never fit into a basket. If you have anything you would like to donate to our raffle “table”, please do so. There is already bread mixes, cookies and crackers. We sell raffle tickets for: 1 for $1 or 10 for $5. All raffle players receive prizes.
Meeting dates to put on your calendar: August 21st, September 18th, October 16th. November 20th. Our meetings are always on the 3rdSaturday of every month.
