RESTAURANT LISTING
REMEMBER! No restaurant can absolutely guarantee you will not
accidentally ingest gluten. Eating out
is always a risk. Assuming that risk
puts the responsibility on your shoulders, not the restaurant’s. Use common sense and respond to accidents
calmly. Using your good judgment is most
important.

ZEKE’S SMOKEHOUSE Montrose
(818) 957-7045 |
Some
barbecue sauces, meats, and side dishes |
Bottled barbecue sauce not GF Fries |
Talk to corporate chef who is a
manager at the Montrose location. Very helpful. |
Tips from Tenny:
§
Almost every
place can do a salad with chicken that has not been breaded or marinated with
soy sauce.
§
I usually ask
for oil and vinegar (not malted) and add salt and pepper.
§
I can always
find a salad (no croutons), steak, baked chicken or fish that is GF.
§
I carefully ask
about potatoes. Many times mashed potatoes have flour to make them
fluffy. I think baked is the only potato that is safe, unless they
ask the chef.
§
Waiters and
waitresses will always ask the chef if you question how a food is
prepared.
§
Never assume
that someone completely understands GF.
§
Flourless cake
may not be flourless. Some flourless cakes have 1 or 2 tablespoons of
flour in them.
Other tips:
§
Calling a
restaurant’s corporate office and talking to an executive chef can be helpful.
§
Ask specifically
about soy sauce because wait staff, managers, and even some chefs don’t know
that soy sauce has wheat in it.
§
Panda Express
states on their website: “We do not offer gluten-free entrees or side dishes.”
